Convenient location, always clean with coffee/cocoa and I have almost always been taken to a room within 5 minutes of my scheduled appointment time. The only time I had a longer wait they discounted my bill enough that the medication I was leaving with cost almost nothing. I have gotten same day appointments when needed and they always seem to have next day slots available. The manager is great and so are the vet techs (I am the type of owner who asks a bazillion questions and they take it in stride). I have seen most of the vets at the clinic and have been happy with all of them. They take my questions seriously and my input on how to best get my dog through procedures/exams. I have a nervous dog and never feel like he is pushed too far.
Wellness plans:
I have been bringing my 1.5 year old dog here since he was 12 weeks old. We did the puppy wellness with neuter and are now on the optimum wellness plan. Banfield itself has mixed reviews, but as a picky vet care consumer I have gladly stayed at the Mill Creek location even though I happened upon them somewhat unintentionally when my puppy got kennel cough on Sunday, a day after coming home, and they were the only place open in the area.
The wellness plan is really thorough for a young dog, it almost feels excessive, but at the same time I love it because my last dog had chronic health issues caught when fairly advanced since dogs hide illness so well. We recently had our first comprehensive exam and he got a thorough physical, fecal, deworming as well as blood work. They allowed me to stay for the appointment even though it's usually done drop off.
This Banfield location is absolutely amazing. I originally brought my sick cat in (I was literally trying to get her in anywhere I could) and they had an opening available and were able to see us that day. We developed a plan and also signed up for a wellness plan. For those who are skeptical about the wellness plans, it honestly helped a lot. I had an unusual case where I was bringing my cat in several times within a few weeks time period. At one point, our treating Doctor had referred us to an emergency vet (which was appropriate - my cat was very ill), which we did take my cat to, but I was unhappy with how she was being treated (at the ER vet) and I didn't want what could be her last few days being poked and prodded. I brought her back to Banfield the next day and we came up with another plan to see if that would work for her. I was able to keep my cat at home for a week on medication and comfortable until her passing. When I did come to the decision to help her cross the rainbow bridge, they were able to get me in with in the hour and both the Doctor and the VA were VERY sympathetic and helped me throughout the process. I was devastated - and I made a poor choice of having her publicly cremated. However, when my husband saw me hysterical, he called Banfield, who contacted the cremation services and it was arranged that I would have her ashes be returned to me. Everyone in the clinic that came in contact with my cat even wrote and signed a card which was sent to my home. When you sign up for the Wellness Plan - please note that if your pet passes (we hadn't had it for a month when my cat passed) while on the plan, you either have to pay back the discounted services OR the remaining payments on the plan, which ever is cheaper. We saved nearly $1000 on the pet plan, so we are just paying back the remaining (~$300). We also have our senior dog on a plan now as well. The Wellness Plans are like a gym membership - if you don't use them appropriately you WILL NOT SEE THE BENEFITS! If you use them how they should be, these actually do save a ton of money. These are preventive medicine plans to keep your animals healthy to hopefully prevent them from needing extreme services. The plans ARE NOT insurance.
Surgery:
While I don't know that these are the best deal out there, I do think it makes me a better dog owner because I don't hesitate to have him seen because I might be wasting money. By paying a fairly low monthly amount that covers all of his preventative care I would need to do anyways I can take him in any time and not have to worry about the office visit fee. This came in really handy when we were treating a pesky skin irritation and were in and out multiple times over a few weeks to recheck and try new treatments. In the past I would have tried everything at home first and hesitated to have him rechecked frequently at $40-$50/visit. I also don't find myself putting off routine care "until I get paid," I just make the appointments based on when things are due.
I absolutely love this office! The staff is phenomenal. The vets we saw in separate visits were fantastic! We couldn't get in to see our regular vet in a Petsmart but was able to be seen right away. The place was quiet, clean, friendly staff and just a homey atmosphere. My chi-weenie would have seizures only when going to Petsmart to see our vet. She's been here twice AND NO SEIZURES! Love love love em!
Had a wonderful experience coming here for my dog. The vet was very honest and helpful about testing for her tumor, and saved me money versus going to another place. I could've walked out paying nothing (because I had a coupon for a free first exam) but I chose to get some preventive flea medicine. The dr. was spot on about her tumor being benign and it went away as diagnosed.
I appreciate long/thorough reviews, especially when it comes to my baby, and didn't see one on this location so here it goes.
The clinic/staff:
In addition to his neuter at 6 months I had them remove his rear dew claws (he risked ripping them off) and pull his remaining baby teeth to avoid extraction later. The quoted price was exactly what I paid minus what was included in my plan. He got pre-anesthetic blood work (a must in my book) and was sent home with pain meds and a sedative. When I came to pick him up he was being snuggled by a vet tech. His follow ups were all included and he healed up with zero complications. I had no complaints.
Overall, Banfield Mill Creek is a great choice for preventative and routine vet care with fair prices for the area.
We have wellness plans for our two pups and we have only had positive experiences with Banfield so far. They clearly care and they're very knowledgable. The location and hours are super convenient, too.
